FAQ

  • What is the best way to brew my coffee?
Using filtered water is always the best, but we realize that is not always available. We recommend using 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 8oz cup of water. Adjust that ratio for your taste preference. If possible, we recommend buying our coffee as whole bean, and grinding it yourself right before brewing it. That will give you the best flavor.
  • Is your coffee always roasted fresh?
YES! That is what makes it so good. Most of our coffee is not roasted until it is ordered. Never more than a few days old. You can taste the difference between fresh roasted beans and old beans.
  • Do you roast your own beans in house?
YES. All of our beans are roasted in our facility just outside of Salem Indiana.
  • What is the difference between the drip grind and the espresso grind?
To make a good espresso, the beans must be ground much finer than for a standard drip coffee maker. The fine grind allows it to pack in tight which is critical to pulling a good shot of espresso.
  • Do you offer any flavored coffee?
Nope! We feel like good fresh coffee doesn't need any additional flavors. Maybe we are old fashioned??
  • How long does it take to ship out my order?
Most orders are roasted within 2-3 business days. If you chose whole bean they will shipped right out. If you chose for us to grind it, we let the beans "rest" for a couple of days before we grind them. That enhances the flavor in most beans.
  • Why does your coffee cost more than what I see at the grocery store?
It's all about the beans! There are 5 grades of coffee beans. Specialty Grade, Premium, Exchange, Standard, and Off-Grade. We only use either Specialty or Premium grade beans. Most of the big companies use much cheaper and lower quantity beans for their coffee. There is a BIG taste difference between the grades of beans. If you see it on the store shelf there is a good chance that coffee started out as a very cheap. low grade coffee bean.
